Common forklifts are generally standard small forklifts. This type of forklift is relatively small in size and has a mass of 1 ton to five tons. It is also the most frequently used forklift in our work. In addition to standard forklifts, there are also special forklifts used for container operations, such as container forklifts (2-5t), empty container stacking forklifts (7-10t) and full container loading and unloading container forklifts (20-42t).

Tonnage type of forklift:

1. Ordinary internal combustion forklift and electric forklift:

This type of forklift generally uses diesel, gasoline, natural gas, and batteries as power. The load capacity is about 1.2-8.0 tons, and the working channel width is generally 3.5-5.0 meters. It is more flexible because of its small load, and it is also the most common type of forklift. This type of forklift is usually used to forklift lighter cargo pallets and is the main force in the factory workshop.

2. Heavy duty diesel forklift:

This type of forklift has a larger load capacity, generally using a diesel engine as power, with a load capacity of 10.0-52.0 tons, and is generally used for outdoor operations in heavy cargo wharfs, steel and other industries.

3. Container forklift:

Container forklifts still use diesel engines as power, with a load capacity of 8.0-45.0 tons. They are generally divided into empty container stackers, heavy container stackers, and container reach stackers. It is mainly used in container handling, such as container yard or port terminal operation.

4. Side loader forklift:

This type of forklift is named because it can fork goods from the side. It also uses a diesel engine as power, and its carrying capacity is about 3.0 to 6.0 tons. It has the ability to fork goods directly from the side without turning, so it is mainly used to fork long goods such as wooden slats and steel bars.

Influence of forklift tonnage on stability:

Due to the requirements for the balance performance of the forklift, the engine of the forklift is generally installed longitudinally at the rear of the forklift, and the tail of the counterbalanced forklift is equipped with a counterweight to maintain the balance of the forklift.

The forklift has good longitudinal stability when it is unloaded, but after loading, since the center of gravity of the load is located outside the wheel support contour, the possibility of longitudinal overturning is large.

It is of course relatively stable to use a forklift with a larger tonnage to lift lighter goods, but if a forklift with a smaller tonnage is used to lift heavier goods, it may overturn.

In addition, in the actual operation of the forklift, different work attachments and operating methods have different effects on the longitudinal stability of the forklift. For example, when the mast tilts forward and the goods rise to the maximum lifting height of the forklift, the longitudinal stability of the forklift drops a lot, and the forklift is most likely to overturn longitudinally at this time.

When the forklift makes a sharp turn on a slope, if the cargo is lifted too high and the speed is too fast, it may overturn. And properly lower the center of gravity of the goods to improve the stability of the forklift. When driving, operate in strict accordance with the operating rules and safety rules. Correctly handle various situations in the operation to ensure the safe operation of the forklift.

Therefore, when choosing a forklift, you should choose forklifts with different tonnages according to different uses. If the tonnage is too small, it is easy to lose balance and cause accidents, and if the tonnage is too large, it will lead to small horses and large carts, resulting in waste of resources.
