Six points for safe use and maintenance of electric forklifts
Aug 27, 2019In the current market, electric forklifts are very popular. Compared with traditional diesel forklifts, electric forklifts have low maintenance cost, long service life, energy saving and environmental protection. But in daily use, the battery of the forklift needs to be maintained, so what maintenance method does the electric forklift have for the battery?
Daily inspection
1. Liquid level: If the liquid level is lower than the rated level, the service life of the battery will be shortened, and too little electrolyte will cause the battery to be damaged by heat. Therefore, you must always pay attention to whether the electrolyte is sufficient.
2. Terminals, wires and covers: It is necessary to always check the junction of the battery terminals and the connection with the wires for corrosion caused by oxidation, and at the same time check whether the cover is deformed and whether there is heat.
3. Appearance: If the surface of the battery is dirty, it will cause leakage. The surface of the battery should be kept clean and dry at any time.
Maintenance
1. Add water: Add distilled water according to the specified liquid level. Do not add too much distilled water in order to prolong the water addition interval. If too much water is added, the electrolyte will overflow and cause leakage.
2. Charging: The battery will generate gas during the charging process. The charging place should be well ventilated and there is no open fire around. At the same time, the oxygen and acid gas generated during the charging process will affect the surrounding area. Unplugging the charging plug during charging will generate an arc. After the charging is turned off, the plug can be unplugged. After charging, there is a lot of hydrogen remaining around the battery, no open flame is allowed, and the cover of the battery should be opened for charging.
3. Maintenance of terminals, wires and covers: it must be carried out by professional technicians designated by the manufacturer.
4. Cleaning: If it is not too dirty, you can wipe it with a damp cloth; if it is very dirty, remove the battery from the car, wash it with water and let it dry naturally.
Custody
1. Storage place: it cannot be short-circuited. A short circuit caused by rain may cause a fire and a small amount of hydrogen gas may be generated, so the battery must be stored in a ventilated and cool place.
2. Waste batteries: Waste batteries still have electric energy and should be stored in accordance with the batteries used.
The operation of electrolyte
1. Check the specific gravity: use a suction hydrometer to check the specific gravity. Do not spill the electrolyte during operation, and wear equipment.
2. Operations other than inspection: Consult with professionals, especially when supplementing electrolyte (dilute sulfuric acid).
3. Electrolyte leakage: The electrolyte leaks due to the overturning and damage of the battery, and emergency treatment should be carried out immediately.
Operation of end-of-life batteries
1. Operation of the battery at the end of its life: When the battery is near the end of its life, the electrolyte in the single-cell battery is reduced very quickly, and distilled water should be replenished every day.
2. Treatment of waste batteries: For waste batteries, extract the electrolyte and decompose the batteries. It can be negotiated whether to be recycled by the battery manufacturer.
Emergency treatment
1. Electrolyte splashed on the skin and eyes: rinse with plenty of water, and then receive professional medical treatment
2. Electrolyte splashed on clothes: take off clothes immediately, rinse with water and then rinse with weak alkaline soap.
3. Electrolyte leakage: When the electrolyte leaks to the outside, immediately neutralize it with lime, strong acid soda or carbonated soda, and rinse with plenty of water.
